Plying the slow, swirling waters of the Mekong, The Jahan is Heritage Line’s most romantic cruise liner. Considered the brother of The Jayavarman in Heritage Line’s “family” of cruise ships, this magnificent vessel was named after the Indian emperor Shah Jahan, who ruled the Mughal Empire from 1628 to 1658. A great patron of architecture and the arts, Shah Jahan oversaw the construction of many legendary sites, including India’s dazzling Red Fort, and the famed 777 gardens of Kashmir. This cultured monarch is a fitting namesake for The Jahan, which evokes the opulent vessels of British India. No expense has been spared in the interior or exterior decorations, which showcase the talents of local woodworkers, weavers and artists.
All 12 Superior Staterooms in bright tones with redish wall and ceiling artworks are situated on the main deck and gracefully designed – with white wood furnishings and hand painted wall to ceiling decors.
Located on the upper deck and with a total space of 30sqm, the Deluxe Staterooms are designed in a warm orange hue and filled with dark colonial furniture. Hand painted Indian ornaments underline the Indian theme.
Two Signatures are located on the main deck and two sit in the front area of the upper deck. All four have a white-crème façade topped with hand-made marvelous indigo-blue Indian patterns, borders and ornaments which give the cabin a magnificent light appearance. The large wooden four-poster king bed is accompanied by a heavy treasure chest at the foot end to store your belongings.
The Taj Suite
The Indian suite is peppered with designs and styles brought in from India. A feast for the eyes – dark wooden with camel boned inlayed chairs, tables, cabinets, side tables and vanity case. The dining lounge, the extravagant solid camel bone sofa and the large majestic wooden bed offer you the full “Shah” feeling”.
Lord Byrons Suite
The Lord Byron is – as the name suggests – our British designed suite. This cabin features a light decent mint green ambiance on the walls which are all over covered with British-Colonial paintings – all manually crafted.
