Taking guests on a journey into Aqua Expeditions next frontier, Vietnam and Cambodia, the 62.4 meter (205 feet) Aqua Mekong was designed by Saigon-based architects at Noor Design to embody the aesthetic of a sophisticated five-star hotel. Local sustainable materials and artisanal touches of the Mekong’s multifaceted cultures round out these generous interior spaces designed to welcome guests in the utmost comforts between on and off shore excursions along this fascinating river, to flooded emerald forests and bamboo stilt villages accessible only by boat, among flocks of painted stork and spot billed pelicans in their last Southeast Asian refuge and to Chinese wing tipped pagoda temples and remote Buddhist monasteries.

Spacious and indulgent, yet intimate enough to feel entirely exclusive, the Aqua Mekong incorporates relaxed yet refined lounging and dining areas and can accommodate a maximum of 40 guests plus crew. Modern navigation technologies and the highest cruise ship standards as well as our experienced river pilot and crew ensure smooth travel and safety on the water.

LIVING

The ultimate river safari includes the best features for comfort on board, as well as unparalleled experiences with local experts in small groups exploring a destination. True to that vision are the 20 air- conditioned Design Suites of the Aqua Mekong, each one a generous 30 square meters (320 square feet), eight with balconies and all created entirely of local materials with the relaxed sophistication and contemporary comforts of a five-star resort.

The floor to ceiling panoramic windows allow guests to gaze upon the Mekong from the pillow top California king size bed that can be converted upon request into two full twin beds. More captivating views await on the plush, roomy daybed placed by the window wall or for our eight balcony accommodations, outside along with a romantic table for two. Those who wish to keep up on the world beyond these enthralling riverbanks will appreciate complementary internet connection (subject to location signal availability).

The sleek bathroom features the latest eco-sensitive technology and an additional Mekong River facing picture window, plus dual sinks, a large walk in shower with rainforest showerhead and bench, professional hairdryer and natural bath amenities.

Four sets of interconnecting suites, with two sets on each deck offer convenience for traveling families. Or for the ultimate luxury, passengers may book these interconnecting accommodations, with one suite configured as a private living room, the other as a bedroom and separate bath. The result is a private, 60 square meter (640 square foot) floating apartment on the Mekong River.

Amenities: All excursions by private speed boats, all meals while on-board, beverages (non-alcoholic, select premium wines, sparkling wine and national beer), on board laundry service, California king size bed that can be converted to twins, floor to ceiling windows facing the Mekong, large double closets, chest of drawers, password generated security box, iPod docking station, dual sink bathroom with walk- in shower and rainforest showerhead, professional hairdryer, and all-organic natural hair and bath amenities.

DINING

Choose to make dinner a date night or dine family style among friends old and new. Our onboard chefs shop local riverside markets, often with our guests, for the day’s freshest ingredients and organic local produce.

Chef David Thompson’s menus are ever changing, designed to incorporate the day’s catch and the market’s freshest produce, be it smoked fish, tapioca and vegetable dumplings, Vietnamese catfish minced with shallots, chilies and Thai basil, grilled river prawns with peanut relish. Then finish with something considerably more decadent, like a luscious Vietnamese artisanal chocolate fondant.

WELLNESS & RECREATION

No trip along the Mekong River would be complete without a relaxing visit to a spa showcasing the traditions of Southeast Asian massage. Enjoy a touch of traditional healing, be it the gentle stretching and deep knead of a Khmer massage, or Vietnamese aromatherapy incorporating local ingredients like energizing highland coffee or relaxing organic lemongrass.
Spa treatments are available throughout the day and evening by appointment. In these two specially designed spa rooms, one single and one double, the Aqua Mekong’s experienced, professionally trained English speaking local therapists perform a full range of holistic, restorative and energizing treatments. The full spa menu has been placed in each Design Suite for the convenience of our guests.

Southeast Asia is rightly known for its year-round humidity and equatorial temperatures, so we designed the Aqua Mekong’s Observation Deck to culminate at the front with an indulgent plunge pool, poised to soak up the ship’s most panoramic vistas of vibrant river life.

A comfortable refuge onboard the Aqua Mekong is the air-conditioned library. Indulge your intellectual curiosity, perusing photography books about Southeast Asia, studying river maps and hydrology charts, or keeping up with other news in our selection of current magazines from around the world. The Mekong also features a game room equipped with a foosball table

Excursions include all terrain biking and kayaking. We are the only Mekong River cruise ship to offer our Aqua Mekong guests complimentary bikes which they can hop on anytime to explore the picturesque riverbanks of the Mekong River. Guests of the Aqua Mekong may also take advantage of eight double- kayaks throughout various locations in Cambodia.
