Since its opening in 1988, the Thai beach resort of Amanpuri has established a reputation for personal service, fine cuisine and cruising, all of which complement the natural beauty of its tropical island surroundings. Amanpuri, a Sanskrit word meaning ‘place of peace’, reflects its name in many ways.

The resort’s graceful pavilions and villa homes are situated in a coconut plantation on a headland overlooking the Andaman Sea. Elevated walkways connect pavilions to the resort’s private white sand beach and facilities, including the first Aman Spa. Amanpuri offers a fleet of luxury cruisers, providing guests with the opportunity to explore the Andaman Sea.

Take pleasure in Thai traditions on the Andaman sea at Amanpuri Resort. Poking out of the palm canopy across the hillside, the distinctive pointed rooves of pavilions evoke the architecture of Ayutthaya, ancient capital of Siam. At this place of peace, interiors are enriched with custom-crafted furniture and original artworks and guests feel as though they are being entertained in the private residence of benevolent, taste-making friends. With hand-loomed silks and fragrant orchids there is never any mistaking that you are in Thailand – even when dining on fresh Japanese sashimi at Nama restaurant, sharing an Italian-inspired dish at convivial Arva, or snacking on crispy Mexican tostadas over pisco cocktails in the Latin American bar. Sample coconut-flavored kanom krok cakes and lemongrass tea by the black-tiled pool, then descend to the beach to snorkel, kayak or jet-ski in the Andaman sea.

LIVING

Set on a hillside overlooking a private white-sand beach on Phuket’s west coast, Amanpuri’s Pavilions are elegant and contemporary with oversized bathrooms and spacious dressing areas. Coconut palms cast tropical shadows onto private terraces. Reflecting the graceful architecture and gentle spirit of Thailand, Amanpuri’s Pavilions and Villas are tucked into verdant gardens on a peninsula overlooking the Andaman Sea.

The resort offers ten pavilions, four of which have private swimming pools and 17 villas from one bedroom to nine bedrooms, all with private swimming pools. Every pavilion and villa offer breath-taking views of the Andaman Sea or the resorts lush gardens.

DINING

Using the cornucopia of fresh, farm-to-fork flavors found locally, Amanpuri’s five authentic dining venues explore cuisines from across the globe. Nama, a fine dining experience celebrating Japan’s culinary artistry and Unesco-recognised tradition of washoku, a style of cuisine that elevates cooking to an art form that takes years to perfect. Under the guidance of Keiji Matoba, every Nama dish is imbued with a strong sense of its locale, focusing on the finest ingredients available nearby. At Amanpuri, this concept is brought alive with just-caught seafood from the waters surrounding Phuket, vibrant organic produce, and with specialist ingredients sourced direct from the markets of Osaka and Kyoto. Arva, is Amanpuri’s tribute to the earthy, heart-warming dishes of Italy, offering a menu that follows the country’s tradition of ‘cucina del raccolto’. The Thai Restaurant, authentic yet unique to Amanpuri, the menu places an emphasis on sharing plates. The Pool Terrace provides refreshing and informal dining inspired by the Mediterranean climate. The Lounge offers an authentic and joyful taste of Latin America with traditional Mexican street food as its inspiration. The menu of snacks, light dishes, raw and vegan options draws culinary inspiration from across Central and South America, complemented by handcrafted cocktails.

HOLISTIC WELLNESS CENTER

A pioneer in resort spas, Aman has always delivered a transforming, holistic wellness experience, taking care of mind, body and spirit. Now, in February 2019 Amanpuri – home to the flagship Aman Spa in Phuket, Thailand – is expanding its offerings even further with the introduction of integrative medical services and Intensive Wellness Immersions at its new and revolutionary Holistic Wellness Centre.

Amanpuri is the brand’s first resort to provide medical services. These are run within the expansive new facilities of its Holistic Wellness Centre by a certified medical team from the world-class health-and-sports resort Thanyapura. Amanpuri’s integrative medical services fall broadly into three categories: anti-aging and preventive medicine, aesthetic, and sport performance. The medical team works alongside, and complements the treatments of, Aman’s renowned experts in ancient healing techniques and alternative therapies. An open-minded holistic ethos therefore combines with state-of-the-art technology in Amanpuri’s quest to boost guests’ health and wellbeing.

Guests who embark on any medical therapy at Amanpuri will first be assessed by a fully qualified doctor during a comprehensive diagnostic consultation. This might include food intolerance/micronutrient blood tests, performance blood tests, a heavy-metal OligoScan, and urine indican testing. Analysis of all test results, plus in-depth discussions regarding lifestyle and personal goals, might lead to the prescription of specific medical treatments as part of a bespoke wellness programme that also includes a personalised nutrition plan created by Amanpuri’s naturopaths and experienced raw/vegan chefs.

Medical services offered will include: Intravenous (IV) Nutrient Infusion Therapy; Chelation injections; Nebido and Genotropin hormone injections; a personalised supplement plan; colon hydrotherapy; CoolSculpting; physiotherapy; High Intensity Laser (HIL) therapy; radiofrequency therapy; ultrasound therapy; red-light therapy; non-invasive High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) facials; Botox injections; chemical peel; and cosmetic acupuncture. DNA Lifestyle Genetic Analysis and Basic Wellness Gene Tests will also be available. All of these services will be complemented by the Wellness Centre’s holistic spa services, with massages, facials, body wraps and body polishes that utilise Aman’s recently launched, all-natural skincare products.
